Dear client, F/ N! X; N6 O! \; f6 e! d
- l- K1 h- q$ I& X4 QWe are currently reaching out due to ongoing issues with the cPanel node CPSG2.
9 |/ G3 F! b* I$ z
+ @& D" D O( s, R4 d R$ UWe have worked tirelessly with various system administrators to resolve this issue, but have unfortunately reached the conclusion that we cannot proceed with this node due to inherent system corruption.

While the exact cause is unknown, we suspect a routine upgrade partly has caused this. During a system update Cagefstl were temporarily disabled. Cagefstl is responsible for isolating clients to their own home folder. We highly suspect that this brief disconnect in Cagefstl has caused malicious code to be run altering folder permissions across the entire system, and corrupting essential system files. Client data itself is unaffected. , d. E7 P. J' s
1 l4 P' n/ `! b7 c& ]We initially attributed this issue to something entirely else - and did manage to resolve the symptoms - however the root cause was not determined at first and the issue repeated itself. This has unfortunately prolonged the time it took for us to act properly on this issue.

7 b& K# ^$ E ~The server has been kept online as this issue is only affecting a smaller portion of the accounts. However, the possibility of malicious code being run outside the isolated accounts means that there is a likelihood of unauthorized software being on the node which risks the integrity of the server moving forwards.

What is going to happen now?5 [% S6 C3 O- C- h: [. r- @" q
$ [% E9 p9 w) _. tWe've been hard at work to setup a replacement system. This has now already been setup and we are already importing client data onto this new server. We are recovering accounts from Jetbackup prior to this incident, which means that the account data will be a couple of days old. If you need the newest data migrated over then open a support ticket and we will see what can be done.! h {' B/ [) M u9 l
/ K( R; x3 q0 G! N& ]# n4 GThe server itself is identical and in the same datacenter. Nothing changes on that.% Q. r0 w8 [1 J8 B8 @. C) R+ k

Unfortunately the IP cannot be moved from our old server, thus any domain who uses A records to point their domains to our server needs to update this. If your domain uses our nameservers then it will automatically update to the new server.; ^ l5 q* ~! u, j( [9 K
4 s H1 h* s6 J" k! kWe expect all clients to be migrated within 24-36 hours. You can check if your account has been migrated by logging in to cPanel at cpsg1.

We sincerely apologize for this situation. It is something that shouldn't happen, but unfortunately did.
